Turks and Caicos Weather in March: A Local’s Guide to Paradise
If you are tired of the cold winter gray, we have good news. March is one of the absolute best times to visit us in Turks and Caicos. The sun is shining, the water is warm, and the island is full of life.
We are Simon, Pina, and Karim, the team here at White Villas. We have lived on Providenciales for years. We built our life here because we love the outdoors and the beautiful weather. Since we welcomed our first guests in 2016, we have learned exactly what travelers need to know to have a perfect trip.
In this guide, we will tell you everything about the weather in March. We will cover temperatures, what to pack, and the best things to do. We want to help you plan a trip that is sunny, relaxing, and stress-free.
What to Expect From the Weather
March is part of our “dry season.” This means you get a lot of sun and very little rain. It is arguably the most comfortable month of the year. It is warm enough for the beach all day but not too hot or humid.

Temperatures
During the day, the temperature usually sits around 82°F (28°C). It is perfect for swimming or lounging by your private pool.
At night, it can drop to about 73°F (23°C). This is very refreshing. You might want a light sweater if you are eating dinner outside near the ocean breeze, but you definitely won’t be cold.
Water Temperature
The ocean is lovely in March. The water temperature averages 79°F (26°C). It feels refreshing when you first jump in, but it is warm enough to stay in for hours. Whether you are snorkeling or just floating, you will be very comfortable.
Rainfall
We get very little rain in March. On average, we might see one or two inches of rain for the whole month. If it does rain, it is usually a quick shower that passes in a few minutes. You don’t need to worry about your vacation getting washed out.
💡 Insight: Did you know Turks and Caicos gets about 350 days of sunshine a year? March is one of our sunniest months!
The Wind and Why We Love It
The trade winds are a big part of our weather here. In March, you can expect a steady breeze coming from the east. The wind usually blows between 12 and 18 mph.
We love this breeze for two reasons. First, it keeps you cool while you are sunbathing. Second, it makes our home on Long Bay Beach a world-class destination for kiteboarding. If you have ever wanted to try this sport, March is a fantastic time to learn with us.
Crowds and Atmosphere
March is a popular time to visit. Many people are on spring break or just escaping the end of winter in the North. The island has a fun, energetic vibe. Restaurants are lively and there are often events happening.
Because it is a busy month, we always recommend booking your stay and your activities early.
However, busy does not mean crowded everywhere. At White Villas, we are located on the quieter side of the island. While Grace Bay can get packed with people, our guests enjoy plenty of space and privacy. You get the best of both worlds. You are close to the action when you want it, but you have a peaceful retreat when you are done for the day.
What to Pack for March

Packing for Turks and Caicos is easy. Our style is “island casual.” You rarely need to dress up. Here is a quick checklist for your March trip:
- Swimsuits: Bring more than one so you always have a dry one.
- Sun protection: The sun is strong. Bring hats, sunglasses, and a rash guard for snorkeling.
- Reef-safe sunscreen: Please help us protect our beautiful coral reefs by using biodegradable sunscreen.
- Light clothing: Shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses are perfect.
- A light layer: A long-sleeve shirt or light cardigan is good for breezy evenings.
- Flip flops: You will live in these!
Must-Visit Spots in March
We want to share some of our favorite local spots. These are places we go ourselves and places our guests love.
White Villas Resort Turks and Caicos
We might be biased, but we believe our villas are the best way to experience the island. We designed them to bring the outside in. Our large glass doors open up completely to your private terrace and pool. It feels like you are living outdoors, which is exactly why we moved here.
Our guests often tell us they love the privacy. Unlike a big hotel, you don’t have to fight for a pool chair. You have your own kitchen to cook fresh meals or you can use our private chef services. We are always nearby to help you with anything you need.
Long Bay Beach
This is our home beach, and it is stunning. It is famous for its shallow, turquoise water that goes out for miles. Because it is shallow and faces the trade winds, it is the number one spot for kiteboarding.
Even if you don’t kite, it is a beautiful place to walk. It is much quieter than other beaches, so you can often walk for a long time without seeing many people. It is perfect for families because the water is calm and shallow near the shore.

Grace Bay Beach
You cannot come to Providenciales without seeing Grace Bay. It is consistently voted one of the best beaches in the world. The water is a deep, vibrant blue and the sand is incredibly soft.
There are many restaurants and shops nearby. We suggest spending a day here enjoying the beach and grabbing lunch, then heading back to your villa for a quiet sunset.
Smith’s Reef
If you like snorkeling, you must visit Smith’s Reef. It is accessible right from the shore, so you do not need a boat. You can see turtles, rays, and hundreds of colorful fish.
Our guests love that it is easy to get to. Just remember to be careful not to touch the coral. It is a fragile ecosystem that we want to protect.
Fun Activities to Try in March
The weather in March makes almost any outdoor activity possible. Here are a few we recommend:
- Kiteboarding: As we mentioned, Long Bay is world-famous for this. We have partnerships with local schools and can help you book lessons.
- Whale Watching: March is the very end of the humpback whale migration. You might get lucky and spot them if you take a boat charter out to deeper waters or near Salt Cay.
- Boat Charters: Renting a boat for a day is the best way to see the hidden cays and iguanas. We can help you find the perfect boat rental.
- Thursday Fish Fry: This is a weekly local event with food, music, and crafts. It is a great way to experience island culture.
💡 Local tip: If you want to explore the island at your own pace, we highly recommend renting a car. We have our own fleet of cars right here at White Villas to make it easy for you.
