Go on a Glowworm Cruise

Glowworm cruises are among the most sought-after Turks and Caicos beach resort activities. Watching these bioluminescent creatures in their full glory is a spectacle you will not forget for the rest of your life. Glowworms are small marine worms inhabiting the shallow bays, wetlands, and channels of Turks & Caicos Islands. These creatures put on a stunning display of their bioluminescence for a very short time in the evening during certain days of the month.

The event occurs around four days after a full moon when millions of glowworms sparkle with a green glow after sunset. The display is part of the creatures’ mating process.

  • The ideal location to go for glowworm cruises are the shallow banks and channel systems, including parts of Leeward Going Through Channel near the Caicos Banks
  • Mangrove Cay is also an excellent spot to witness the spectacle
  • You can also witness the show while clear-bottom kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding
Some other promising locations for seeing the glowworms include Heaving Down Rock, Old Grace Cove at Long Bay Beach, Taylor Bay, Sapodilla Bay, and the bay at West Harbour Bluff.
Dive the Wall off Grand Turk

Scuba diving is one of the first activities that come to mind when you visit the Turks and Caicos Islands. There are many amazing scuba-diving spots on the isles, with some amazing opportunities available off West Caicos and Providenciales’ Northwest Point.

When in Turks and Caicos, you must check the Grand Turk Wall. Here you can go scuba diving and explore the third-largest coral reef in the world. The continental shelf here suddenly drops off from the coral reef. Beyond the Wall, the seabed falls to depths of 7,000 feet.

Scuba diving here can not only give you the chance to witness a unique undersea feature, but also spend some time in the company of tuna, groupers, reef sharks, eagle rays, manta rays, barracuda, hammerhead, and other sea creatures.

Whale-Watching

Turks and Caicos receives humpback whales from January through April in certain parts of the isles. If you plan your vacation during this part of the year, you can include whale-watching into your list of Turks and Caicos beach resort activities. During this time, the whales migrate along the Columbus Passage trench to the Silver Banks. This passage goes through the Turks and Caicos islands.

You can get up close and swim and snorkel alongside the whales. These creatures are gentle in nature and you can swim along with them.

Go Exploring Split Rock

Split Rock gets its name from the strange-shaped sea cliffs spread across the horizon. Also referred to as Pirate’s Cove and West Harbour Bluff, this amazing place is located on the southwest shores of Provo. The place also offers one of the most deserted beaches in the region.

Besides exploring the unique feature, you can also see various species of birds. Some of the common birds you will come across include brown pelicans, ospreys, white-tailed tropicbirds, and green herons. If you like to explore areas off the beaten path, Split Rock can just be the perfect area for you to explore.

Your guide can help you discover the beauty of different islands including Pine Cay, Parrot Cay, and Dellis Cay, and come up close to marine life. As part of guided tours, you can have your jet skis dropped off at your beachfront. You will have gassed up jet skis ready to take you on your tropical ride.

Snorkeling

There are many snorkeling areas around the Turks and Caicos Islands, and White Villas Resort is pleased to provide adult and kid snorkeling equipment to its guests. The Grace Bay Beach, on the north side of Providenciales, is still among the best places for this activity.
