Why celebrities choose the Turks and Caicos, over and over again
Providenciales and other TCI islands are top vacation choices for those that can afford to visit any spot on the planet.
When fame, and a hefty wallet, allow you to travel pretty much anywhere in the world, it’s safe to assume that your destinations of choice will most likely be on the spectacular side.
We recently spotted Drake’s world famous “Air Drake” Boeing 767-24Q(ER) at our airport, sometime right after ‘his’ Toronto Raptors won the NBA championship. It prompted us to consider just how many celebrities do visit our islands when they want to escape, celebrate, reconnect and just enjoy a little paradise.
Whether they own a home in this part of the world—Oprah, Donna Karen, Christie Brinkley, Keith Richards, Bruce Willis and the late Prince all have or had homes in the TCI—or whether they visit on occasion, the caribbean climate and white sandy beaches are attractive for a host of celebrity guests.
In fact, Bill Gates, Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Michael Douglas, Lionel Messi, Ryan Seacrest, Katie Couric, Olivia Munn, Justin Bieber, Shaquille O’Neal, Cara Delevingne, the Kardashians and countless others have spent countless getaways in and around our location. While most stay in private villas, we’re told that some of our island resorts have patrons sign non disclosure agreements, because of their high profile guests.
So why Turks, when you can pick and choose any destination in the world?
Well, there are a couple things:
You may already know that the Turks and Caicos feature some of the top-ranked beaches in the world. Simply google ‘Turks and Caicos’ or pop a few hashtags into your instagram and you’ll see visual confirmation of our destination’s breathtakingly beautiful turquoise sea, framed with white, silky sand beaches. With calm waters in all hues of blue, outstanding weather year-round, and lusher than lush greens, it’s truly gorgeous, all of the time.
Privacy is one of life’s great luxuries. When you’re famous, and people feel like they know you, being able to escape, without the gawking or unsolicited conversations and photos reserved for well known faces, can be a challenge. Fortunately, on Provo, privacy isn’t something that only celebrities can enjoy. Because the destination has few resorts and a high percentage of private villas, you don’t have to experience typical hotel surroundings with shared pools, zero privacy or crowded beaches and restaurants.
There’s lots and lots to do!
Although TCI is pretty enough to just lounge around and admire the surroundings all day long, there’s something exciting about knowing you have options and possibilities to move, have fun and adventure out a little. Rest assured, though we’re a relatively small destination, there’s lots and lots to do, if that’s what you desire. Here, water sports are king, so fantastic deep sea fishing, SUP, diving, snorkeling, boating, kite surfing, jet skiing and even horseback riding on the beach are all options. But there’s much more. Want a day on dry land? We have tennis, golf, spas, yoga, casinos, puppies (yes! puppies), shopping and other holiday activities you can enjoy.
At the end of the day, although the Turks and Caicos is a location for wealthy celebrities, you don’t have to be a jet setter to enjoy everything it has to offer. You’ll just feel like one.
